Information plays an important role in household and production activities, especially in ethnic minority communities. However, how best to deliver such information to citizens in a timely, accessible manner remains an open question. This is the focus of the training workshop in Hanoi in late April 2018 for members of commune-level Community Information and Communication Work Groups in Bac Kan, Cao Bang, and Dien Bien.

In four days, from 24-27 March, 2018, members of 5 Information and Communication Work Groups gathered to learn how to do interviews, write articles, make videos, etc. The trainees also had the chance to team up, put their knowledge into action, and deliver their very first media products. In addition, the training also provided basic information related to the Law on the Right to Access Information that is to be effective as of 1 July 2018.

The workshop is part of the ‘Informed to Influence’: Increasing ethnic minority women’s access to information for improved governance and development (I2I) project funded by the European Union. The project is implemented by CARE International in Vietnam with joint efforts of Dien Bien Center for Community Development, the Agriculture and Forestry Research and Development Center for Mountainous Region (ADC), Cao Bang Community Development Centre (DECEN) and NorthNet – a network of more than 10 social organisations in Northern mountainous areas of Viet Nam.
