Program

Our goal is to empower poor and marginalized populations, particularly women and youth, to achieve sustainable livelihoods, equitable access to resources, and resilience to climate change by 2030. This will be achieved through integrated programming that combines women’s economic justice and climate justice, promoting inclusive market-based approaches, and strengthening community-led development.

Impact Populations

CARE’s impact group in Vietnam includes poor and marginalized populations, with a strong focus on women and youth.

By targeting the following groups, CARE in Vietnam aims to address socio-economic disparities, enhance resilience to environmental and climate challenges, and foster inclusive and sustainable development:

Small-scale producers engaged in food production and other value chains, focusing on ethnic minority women and those more vulnerable to climate change. These include women in the most marginalized livelihoods, including women-headed households and unpaid family labor in value chains;

Workers: Waged women workers with no or limited access to labor, social protections, and economic rights, and who are often found working in the poorly paid, most precarious forms of work. Some key groups include women and their communities impacted by apparel supply chains; and women domestic workers/waste collectors;

Entrepreneurs: Women-owned and women-run micro to small enterprises. Key groups include women who run (unregistered) microenterprises or engage in other income-generating activities; and women who run micro to small enterprises for financial sustainability.

Program Impact Areas

By focusing on the dual program priorities of Women’s Economic Justice and Climate Justice, CARE in Vietnam aims to empower the most marginalized communities, ensuring they have the resources, opportunities, and resilience needed to thrive in the face of ongoing and emerging challenges. This integrated approach will not only enhance economic & climate resilience, and environmental sustainability but also promote social justice and equity across Vietnam.
