The Women’s Economic Empowerment through Agricultural Value Chain Enhancement (WEAVE) project is funded by the Australian Government via the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by a consortium of three international non-governmental organizations – Care International Vietnam (CVN), Oxfam, and Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) between 2016- 2020 with a total funding of AUD 3,498,502 WEAVE supports ethnic minority women’s economic empowerment in the pork, cinnamon, and banana value chains (VCs). This is achieved by promoting equality between women and men within households (HH) and producer groups, strengthening male and female producer skills and bargaining power, and working with businesses and government decision-makers to improve the policy environment to support producers. The project’s goal, with three outcomes, is to enhance women’s economic empowerment and social inclusion in agricultural value chains in Vietnam’s northern mountains – one of the poorest and most disadvantaged regions in the country.
